Hidden Watermelon In Half-Life: Alyx: Only Cheating Can Help You
- 2020-05-02 14:10
Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooter that was released more than fifteen years ago, in November 2004. Today, it is available to play on six various platforms: Microsoft Windows, Xbox, Xbox 360, Play Station 3, Mac OS X, Linux, and Android. The game contains several types of food. Some of them only play an aesthetic role, while other vegetables, fruits, or drinks can be used by players. In the second release, the developers decided to hide some food and put it in hidden places that are scattered around the map. Watermelons are one of those food. But in the new Alyx 2020 release, the developers decided to go even further, and hide only one melon that is almost impossible to find until you use some cheating console commands.
One Melon: Where To Find It?
MarphitimusBlackimus, one of the most famous Half-Life’s fans, published a video on YouTube, in it, he finds the melon. As the video shows, there is only one watermelon in the game. To discover it, you need to go to the basement which appeared early in Half-Life.
Remember the episode where Alyx explored the dark basement while Combine soldiers were walking around it? So, you need to return to this basement. The watermelon is hidden inside the box. But not everything is so simple since the berry is completely hidden from your eyes until you type “noclip” and leave the basement. By the way, there is another video dedicated to the watermelons on the MarphitimusBlackimus YouTube channel.
Returning back in 2004, when Half-Life 2 was released, the players were available to find six watermelons during the game. Also, there was an opportunity to find a few more berries in deathmatch levels. Obviously, Valve, the developer of the Half-Life games series, is experimenting with the watermelon model. They have a completely new texture and overall look, much better than in Half-Life 2. The disadvantage is that you can’t break it into watermelon gibs anymore.
Why Play Half-Life: Alyx
Half-Life: Alyx is the third entry in the Half-Life game series that requires using a virtual-reality helmet. The game belongs to a single-player first-person shooter genre. If we consider the game from the point of view of the plot, then it is a second entry as the described events occur between two other releases: Half-Life which was launched in 1998 and Hal-Life 2, the 2004 shooter. As a player, you control a brave man — Alyx Vance whose purpose is to seize a superweapon that is owned by an alien empire Combine. VR adds many more opportunities and interactiveness to the game. Using it, you can interact with the items, fight realistic fights with your enemies, and so on.
Half-Life: Alyx is compatible with the following VR helmets: HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, Valve Index, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality.
Already Found the Watermelon?
Half-Life: Alyx gameplay was set around the virtual reality from its beginning, therefore, there is no version you can play without VR helmets. The Alyx was released not so long ago, but our team has already managed to evaluate the game by the main parameters: graphics, controls, reply value, and gameplay. In short, Half-Life: Alyx has a deep and curious plot that is deeply connected to the first entry in Half-Life series, the controls are simple and intuitive, and the graphics are realistic. One concern is that the game has only a single-player mode, therefore, you cannot share the joy of it with your friends.
Below, there is a comment box where you can leave the questions or discuss the game. Tell us, how do you feel about the game and a new watermelon model? Do you like it?
